I had the good fortune this past year of working with Shawn after he joined AFS as a Managing Director in the cyber practice. As the lead for the Zero Trust and ICAM services in Defense and Civilian portfolios, Shawn demonstrated nothing short of great depth and breadth in his technical expertise and ability to clearly and eloquently synthesize in short order some of the most challenging technical questions.

I have worked with or for Shawn for about a decade. Most recently I worked for Shawn at CrowdStrike where he ran our Global Solution Architecture team.

He was business outcome focused but had a way of attracting great talent to build fantastic culture. He gave the managers tools and resources needed to foster human capital growth ensuring the organization was able to grow and scale to the business’ needs.

At prior companies I worked with Shawn multiple times on projects to apply technology to customer problems. We often collaborated on using open source solutions from the OpenSCAP / ComplianceAsCode project to speed up accreditation and certification for DoD and IC customers. On many occasions he helped apply Linux / Red Hat / Open Source to innovation projects as differentiators for winning large government contracts.

You can count on Shawn not only as a technical leader, but a business innovator across both commercial and government sectors.

Throughout my career it has been rare to have leaders who take an active interest in what people on the frontlines are doing. Shawn has been one of those rarities.

Although a bit intimidating at first, Shawn is very down to earth and easy to talk to. Not only did he take the time to understand "a day in the life" of those of us on the frontlines under his leadership, but also what we need professionally and personally to continue being successful in our roles.

Shawn also helped other business units see beyond the "perceived value" of us Solution Architects, understand the real value we bring to CrowdStrike and what that translates to 1, 5, 10 years down the road (which I think is one of the major reasons our team grew so much the last 2 years).

Shawn is easily top 3 "bosses" I've had in my career.

Shawn brings skill and compassion to the difficult and often thankless job of running an organization. I had the pleasure of working closely with Shawn for a number of years in Red Hat and CrowdStrike. I have seen Shawn evolve from deeply technical Solution Architect to level-headed security strategist and natural leader.

Since he started leading our System z business almost 2 years ago, Shawn has grown our revenue bookings, forecast and pipeline, and increased market share exponentially.
